Many new digital teaching methods are being launched today to enable children to come into contact with music more often. It is bad, that not all the schools come in favor of such steps. In fact, there are schools which still now do not approve music lessons.

Few people think about it when they sing a song on the radio, but while we do that, we train almost all parts of our brains. Because, when you are busy with music, many different centers in your brain are working hard at the same time.

Benefits of Intensive training of Music education in Schools

When you listen to music, you listen to sounds, you listen to how those sounds follow each other, to the harmony and to the volume of the music. And just like in words or in language, you are busy with the rhythm of the music, and you also have to perceive and analyze the sounds to be able to adjust your vocals if necessary, for example if you find yourself a bit false sings.

By listening to music or performing it, you activate virtually every part of the brain. And when toddlers, children or teenagers learn to play music, they give their brains an intensive training. Music is just as important for preschool children as language and math lessons. The great thing is that the parts of the networks in the brain that are needed for music are also used for language, thinking and arithmetic.

More successful in later life

Learning to play music even contributes to its learning process. Children who come into contact with music often learn to talk, write and count better. Music can really make an important contribution to the development of children.

There are even indications that people who are occupied with music at an early age are later more successful. It can be related to a relatively ‘broad’ development that they get, and their language also develops well, but of course the family – the environment – in which you grow up also play an important role, but there is a growing number of scientists. That states that you really have something to do with that music class at primary school all your life.

New Methods

stimulates creativity of childrenNevertheless, less and less attention is paid to music lessons at primary schools. At some schools, the music class covers only a small part of the training, and many teachers cannot sing themselves or play an instrument.

With the new method of teaching instruments children can make music themselves on the computer, so that music education can be given more easily. The teaching method has been tested by nearly 3000 primary school teachers, and from next year it can be used in the classroom.

The next Dafne Schippers

Despite the importance of music, it is fortunately not bad if children are not musical talents. Maybe you should see music as a sport: running around is always good, but you really do not have to be the next Dafne Schippers, not everyone has to be at the top.

You have to be able to move a bit in the music. Just like reading and thinking, music is necessary for you to develop, so primary schools and parents need to steer the children a bit and at least give them inspiration, put them on music lessons, put a guitar in the room. Music is not at the expense of the curriculum, it contributes to the development, and school learning benefits.

  • Music education stimulates the creativity of children.
  • Playing an instrument contributes to the motor development of children, promotes discipline and perseverance.

  • 84% of parents find it important that their children come into contact with music at school.

Good culture education is important: for the personal development of children, for their creativity and for the creativity of our society. There is broad support in society for cultural education and in particular for more and better music education. 85% of parents think it is important that their children come into contact with music at school. On the other hand, only 11% of schools feel that their teachers are competent enough to give music education. Group teachers often feel inadequate for music education. They often lack the confidence to sing for and with the class, for example.

Making music together gives children a lot of fun. But that’s not all. Research shows that making music has a positive effect on school performance. Playing an instrument contributes to the motor development of children and promotes discipline and perseverance. Making music together teaches children to take others into account and stimulates the development of social and emotional skills.

It is not that they do not want to give music; they often lack the confidence to sing for and with the class.

With the extra money, schools can increase the expertise of people standing in front of the class. In addition, they can collaborate with all parties from the music field, such as music schools, harmonies, brass bands, brass bands, orchestras and pop stages. Children can thus develop on a musical and artistic level.

Good culture education is important. Importance for the personal development of children and young people, for their creativity and for the creativity of our society as a whole is increasing because, the society is changing rapidly. We can only keep up with that if we use our creativity to the full. Music education for all children is a good start.

Music education for all school children

Schools can submit their plans together with cultural institutions to the Fund for Cultural Participation. The design of the plans can be different everywhere. For example, in a city collaboration will be sought with a conservatory or a pop venue, while in the countryside it will be done with a brass band or harmony. Also forms with brass bands and music schools are conceivable.
